OUR CONCEPT

What is Bilongo Social Club?

Bilongo, a Bantu term brought to the Caribbean islands, means an evil spell (conjuro in Spanish). When we hear Latin music, we all feel an urge to move our body and dance, making it seem we all are under the spell of music.

In Bilongo Social Club we want to share the good feeling of this spell, and we invite you all to join us in our journey of music.

  • The Music

The music has so much to tell. Not just the melody, but the story behind the tune: who composed it, who sings, who plays, what is the context. We like to not just hear the music, but to feel it.

  • The Vinyl

We couldn't say it any better than our friends from I Like it Like That, so we've decided to quote them instead:

The warm sound, the originality, the culture, the history, the sacred obsession of collecting, swapping and sharing, the art of it and on it, its physicality, being a timeless bridge to the past without loss of what we consider quality.

  • The People

We truly believe music connects people. Our goal is to share and grow our Latin culture through the music, making everyone feel included along the journey.

We intend to be a platform for passsionate people to share their talent with others. Do you want to participate? Let us know!

  • About Us

Bilongo Social Club is born as the result of the partnership of DJ AlexGee and DJ Vito.  True melomaniacs and avid collectors, Alex Gee and Vito created Bilongo Social Club with the intention to share their passion and view for Latin music. The experience for the dancers is the main subject in Bilongo, joining as such a historical building from the XIX century with the warm sound of a vinyl on a superb sound system. This creates the perfect equation where both beginners and advanced dancers can equally enjoy.

AlexGee and Vito work together to bring a combination of experience and freshness to the salsa scene in The Netherlands.
